Fortis Foundation Belgium

Fortis Foundation Belgium , set up in 1996, exemplifies the involvement of Fortis' Belgian businesses in the community. The foundation provides direct assistance to the underprivileged who are often subject to social exclusion and hardship. Indirectly, the foundation helps children and young people through its support to voluntary and charitable organizations, and also encourages a sense of solidarity between the generations. Examples of projects for which Fortis Foundation Belgium has provided financial support include the purchase of teaching materials, setting up playgrounds and activity centres, and financing holidays and sporting activities for sick and deprived youngsters.

A number of solidarity initiatives are being sponsored following proposals by an extensive network of Fortis employees. The latter may also provide practical help on the spot when it comes to setting up local projects, like renovating premises, etc.

In addition, the Foundation is supporting the 'vzw Leefsleutels/asbl Clés pour la Jeunesse', which benefits the organization, the development and the guidanc\e of programs for health education and primary prevention of addictions.
